CAR CARE PROGRAM @ RBI
One of our newest and most asked about services! This program started in 2021 to assist clients by assuring that they have safe and reliable transportation. Public transportation is not often a reliable or practical option for many people to use to get to work, the grocery store, school, or life’s other miscellaneous errands. Our Car Care Program, which provides free expert assessments and labor, is one of just a few being offered in the entire country. We continue to work hard to get the resources to continue to grow this program because we are aware of the tremendous need present in the city of Detroit and surrounding areas for this service.
Our goal is to work together to ensure safe and reliable transportation.
The Car Care Program offers free labor on various car repairs and services as well as honest and helpful advice. Repairs include brakes, alternators, vehicle
inspections, body services, axles, wheel bearings, and more!
This program runs on Saturday mornings when our Brightmoor Free Store is open. Our volunteer mechanics assess vehicles on a first come, first served basis. If a part is needed, our mechanics will locate the part and provide the car owner with the needed information to purchase the part (whether online or at a local retailer). Clients must purchase needed car parts. After the part is purchased, an appointment is made for the repair. All of our services are free of charge.
